Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia(PAM) Awards 2015 awarded GDP Architects with 6 awards in 5 categories. PERMATApintar Auditorium & Sports Park won Gold and Silver respectively, and Perdana Canopy a Silver in the Special Category. GDP architects also received commendations for the KKR2 Tower, 1Sentrum and Nu Sentral.
The KKR2 building was featured in the December, 2014 issue of Architectural Malaysia ‘Offices’ special.The newly completed, 37 storey office tower is located on Jalan Sultan Salahuddin, Kuala Lumpur, providing a new workspace for the Malaysian Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya or JKR). The building will also serve as the new headquarters, centralising a growing workforce that was previously dispersed throughout various locations.
GDP’s Perdana Botanical Garden canopy is used and enjoyed as a public space. Architect Lisa Foo, winner of the Mayor Sculpture Prize 2014 created a giant marionette made of leaves, twigs and branches gathered from the park. A series of ropes and cranks let’s audiences interact and move the puppet for a ‘Walk in the Park’. Art in the Park was held at the Perdana Botanical Gardens, where a series of talks, workshops and art related activities were held. Introduced by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to promote public art, activities were specially designed for the Perdana Botanical Gardens and the participating spaces surrounding the gardens such as the Islamic Arts Museum and Bank Negara.
