D e s c r i p t i o n

Damai 15 is a quaint, 4-unit semi-detached housing project in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Averaging from 4900 to 5700 sq.ft. , each house is designed individually in the vein of a single residential unit. This is apparent in the varying orientation of the houses. The houses are also designed ‘rear facing’ as the street elevation confronts the back-of–house area of a high-rise project. Larger fenestrations are also placed at the rear façade for the same reason. A small dip pool is provided for every unit and by locating the dip pool next to the living room and surrounding it with greeneries, the exterior environment is incorporated into the interior lounge area.

The program of the houses is planned in such a way that the public areas are located on the ground level whist the private family and bedrooms are arranged on the first and second floors. Working through the small confines of the site, the scale of the building is compensated with high ceilings and 3-meter flush doors. Whilst, the colour palette of its exterior is left as white canvases for the filtering sunlight to cast its organic pattern on, the interior takes on a more earthy composition of timber and pastel coloured stone finish. This allows for splashes of colours to be freely introduced by each buyer.

The immediate approach is its vehicular access to the garage block, which leads into the living area, and is separated by a stair and lift core. Another personal foyer door is designated adjacent to the living room for access of people on foot. The dining room overlooks into the double volume living area to maintain the connectivity between these communal spaces. To top it all off a roof terrace is made available for evening entertainments and Sunday barbeques.
